Sauk City Flagpole Garden
MaryEllen Beich and Shawnee Sullivan started this project in 2007. The site was filled with cedar red wood chips, a flag pole and a sign. They have planted bulbs, perennials, annuals and seeds. They provided the funding and spent most of the money on annuals, and perennials from Gloria's Flowers. In the spring they spend 2-3 hours each on clean-up, planting takes 3-4 hours each and they each spend 2-3 hours, 2-3 times per month on maintenance. The perennials have become established and have started to propagate. Spring bulbs have bloomed twice and next spring should be spectacular. This year’s seeds were washed away by the rain. This project does not require further assistance.
