Sauk County Master Gardeners meet at 7:00 pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month in the West Square Building of the Sauk County Courthouse, except for months when a field trip is planned. Our Board meets immediately preceding the regular meetings.

Announcements, May 13, 2010 Meeting · Field Trip to Eberts on June 19. Contact Carrie Covell. Sign up is required. Guests are welcome on a first come first served basis, $10 per non member guest · 2010 WIMGA Annual Conference: July 23-24 Sheboygan. More info and registrations at http://my.ilstu.edu/~cmseffr/MG/ · Community Garden for the Food Pantry, Baraboo Community Garden, corner of 2nd Avenue and Island Court in Baraboo. Power hour is Wednesdays is from 6:00 pm to absolutely no later than 7:00 pm. to plant weed, water, etc. When we all work together, we do have a good time, and remember, "What's said in the garden stays in the garden!" · Community Garden, Prairie du Sac, Huber partnership. The Community Garden plots have been conquered by the Huber guys and work is ahead of schedule, so on May 17, work will be diverted to the Mid Continent Railroad Museum for mulching of the trees, transplanting shrubs and moving dirt. · Mid Continent Railroad. Contact Phyllis Both. Trees, mulch and some filler plants were purchased with the grant money that we received from Sauk County, and have been planted. The volunteers worked by flashlight to finish planting. May 17, 8-12, this work will be completed with mulching, etc. · Scrapbook. Contact Mary Symak. Mary invites each member to create a 12x12 page of their garden to be placed in the scrapbook. Committee chairs are encouraged to contribute photos and descriptions of their projects for this year, or create a scrapbook page. . There is room for 2009 projects, as well. · Sauk County Health Care Center - Garden Project: Contact. Lindsey Kaney. Work on the project began Saturday, May 8th, with transfer of plants to the new location. And continued on Sunday May 9th, to finish planting the remainder of the plants dug from the day before. There are roughly five more garden areas to transplant from the old center. The project might be competed in two to three more days if six or more people volunteer each session. The next work day is to be determined. · Planting at the Circus World Museum. Contact Lynn Zick. Wednesdays work was rained out, so the gardens will need prep before planting on Saturday, May 15th. Volunteers are needed to help purchase plants on Friday. Bring extra shovels and rakes for Huber guys and other volunteers. Meet in the lobby of the Irwin Feld building. Contact Lynn to confirm your activity. · Boxes on the Square, Baraboo. Contact Eve Caliendo. Planting will be done on May 30th at 1:00 P.M. Meet across from Wells Fargo. Rain or shine. · Log Cabin Village, Reedsburg. Contact Barb Steinhorst. Volunteers work independently on assigned sections. Contact Barb to adopt a piece of history to beautify. · Youth Renewal Gardens. Contact Shirley Tollakson. Youth Garden Fundraiser on April 27th was a success with about 125 attendees. Twenty Market Basket shares, have been sold and that is all that can be handled. Fresh Start youth at the Lake Street garden have rototilled, formed the raised beds, and planted potatoes and onions. Two mass planting days have been scheduled for May 13th and May 27th at the Hwy 33 garden. We will prep and plant beds each day from 8:30-2:00 with a pizza break at noon. Come to help on those days for just the amount of time that works, but let Shirley know what time you're coming out. Work at Hwy 33 garden every Monday in May from 4-6 pm. Link to directions. Link to schedule. Lake St. garden work schedule TBD. · The Baraboo Park Dist. has planted 'Autumn Blaze' maple remembering Ed and Teddy Jedry. The tree is located in lower Oschner Park directly opposite the Old Woolen Mill. · The Baraboo Library would like to partner with someone to maintain their landscaping. Contact Carrie Covell for a copy of the guidelines if you are interested in chairing this project. · The Board of Directors will recess until September.
